E te marea, tena koutou katoa. Haka is renouned throughout the world as something that envokes emotion and pride, It inspires the masses an gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our unity.

On the 18th of June Kapiti College hosted a Haka Composition competition and regional wananga for all of the Secondary School and Wharekura from Wellington to Otaki. Students from 6 schools entered the competion and 12 schools in all attended the wananga.

The six haka were dymanic, powerful and demonstrated a high level of expertise in te reo Maori.

The final result saw a Combined team of Wellington College and Wellington Girls college take the first placing, Kapiti College close behind and Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Nga Mokopuna in Third place.

The winning haka is now the official haka which will represent secodnary schools in the region.
